ECHOES – European Concert Halls Offering Eco-Solutions: A New Creative Europe Project for Sustainable Live Music
The ECHOES consortium is proud to announce the official launch of ECHOES – European Concert Halls Offering Eco-Solutions, a cooperation project co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union, running from 1 April 2026 to 31 December 2027.
ECHOES brings together live music venues and cultural organisations from across Europe to develop and implement concrete sustainability solutions for the concert and events sector. The project responds to the European Commission's three-stage greening timeline for Creative Europe (2021–2030+) and the broader objectives of the European Green Deal.
At the heart of the project is the ECHOES Sustainability Toolkit - a comprehensive, evidence-based framework covering six key areas: energy and decarbonised power, systemic circularity, sustainable sourcing and digital transparency, decarbonised mobility, advanced water stewardship, and social sustainability. The toolkit is designed for venues of all sizes, from intimate clubs under 300 capacity to major concert halls with over 1,000 seats, and is aligned with ISO 20121:2024 and the EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).
Through pilot implementations, peer learning, staff training, and knowledge-sharing activities, ECHOES aims to demonstrate that sustainability and artistic excellence are not in conflict - but are the foundation of resilient, future-ready live music ecosystems.

The consortium spans four countries - Romania, Norway, Greece, and Ukraine - reflecting ECHOES commitment to cross-border cooperation and the European dimension of sustainability in the cultural sector.
Over the project's duration, partners will carry out baseline sustainability assessments at each venue, launch staff onboarding and training programmes, pilot the ECHOES Sustainability Toolkit, and begin implementation of measures in energy efficiency, waste reduction, and community engagement.
